 In addition to my list of whining, I have now decided to also voice my opinions about praiseworthy endeavors. Perhaps with this decision my life's karmic balance is restored back to baseline. A high-performance code editor for terminals, with a JS-based plugin API, and a UI/UX goal of being similar to Visual Studio Code or Sublime Text, rather than Vim/Emacs/Nano.

It's definitely still a bit rough around the edges (as of the current v0.4.6) to be my daily driver, but it's being actively developed with new bugfixes and features coming at a steady pace. The fact that it's being developed mainly with Claude is of course slightly worrying, but from what I can tell, the developer really seems to care about making good quality software, and has enough experience to have a chance at pulling it off. Only time will tell where the project will ultimately end up, but at least I will be absolutely rooting for it.
